5Good price, great taste!Sep 04, 2011
By K. Montgomery
Trying to find non-GMO masa harina for homemade tortillas and chips is really hard. Organic corn ships and taco shells are expensive and usually stale tasting. Red Bobs tastes great and we have made some awesome tacos and chips since we bought Red Bobs masa harina and a cast iron tortilla press off of Amazon. The price beats my local Krogers by a little bit and we are using it up as fast I I can re-order it. If you haven't yet, read up on GMO foods. Its scary and I don't want my kids eating foods that are basically a chemical experiment. With Red Bob's masa harina, you have a non-GMO product that is really getting us to experiement with Mexican good again.

5A great masa for homemade tortillas and arepas...Dec 08, 2011
By D. Pawl "Dani"
After seeing a great segment on making your own tortillas on THE VICTORY GARDEN, I got incredibly inspired and went on a search for Masa Harina (Corn Flower) at the grocery store. I found a reasonably priced bag at my local health food store. The only three ingredients you need for excellent tortillas or arepas (South American version of a thicker tortilla) is masa harina, water and salt. You knead the water and salt into the dough, allow it to "rest" for one hour, then make small 2 inch balls of the dough, flatten them either between sheets of wax paper or your hands, and place them on a pre-heated skillet. No oil or butter is required to cook them up. They come out tasting fresh and delicious, and you can also rest assured that the flour is not made with GMOs (or genetically modified corn). The tortillas go excellently with either a smidgen of salsa, a dollop of sour cream or fresh veggies. They are also a great side for soups.

5Buy ThisDec 11, 2013

Although Bob's Red Mill cannot guarantee all of their products be 100% Organic because of cross pollination and some evil policies by "Big Agri" they do attempt to produce as much Organic product as possible. Corn is very hard to provide in an Organic State because it is so easy to cross-pollinate. Very sad. Very tragic. Very dangerous.

But, because Bob's does attempt to provide as much Organic product as possible... this is probably the closest thing to Organic Masa Harina that you will find without actually growing the corn yourself in a sheltered garden and making the masa yourself.

It tastes incredible and you will never go back to those giant mass produced bags from the store again.

5Good product that I will purchase againNov 01, 2013

I love the taste of this product, as well as the ethical practices this company abides by. My husband uses this flour to make corn tortillas and they are delicious!! I contacted Bob's Red Mill to verify their non GMO practice because it's not labeled on the bags. They confirmed that they do not use GMO seeds and sent me the "certificate" of verification. It's still a little odd that they wouldn't advertise it on their product, like they do "gluten free," but I trust their response. I thought this was a great price for 4 bags and they've lasted us a long time. It costs much more in my local Kroger. Definitely worth purchasing if you want gluten and GMO free flour!
